We’ve planned two days of transition this year: Tuesday July 3 and Wednesday July 4. All the children will work with their new teaching teams for these two days.

Our current Year 6 pupils, who are joining the Magnus Academy, have their transition for the whole of that week (Monday July 2 to Friday July 6). They will need to make their own way to Magnus for their transition. There are slightly different arrangements in place for the small number of Year 6 pupils going to other schools. All these families should have been contacted by their new secondary schools with all the relevant details.

Our new Foundation 2 class have a staggered plan over the two days. Tuesday July 3 – stay until 12.30pm, Wednesday July 4 – stay all day (until 3.30pm).

The vast majority of our staff team, apart from the three new teachers, are currently in school. So please feel free to have a chat with them, if you want to share any specific information about your child. The new teachers will be here for both the transition days, so will get to meet them then.

Coffee Afternoon

For those of you who would like the opportunity to meet your child’s new teacher personally, we are putting on an informal ‘meet and greet’ session after school on Tuesday July 3, from 3.30pm to 4pm. This will be based in the main hall. Please feel free to come along and have a chat with the teaching teams. The three new teachers will be there too.

100% Attendance Reward Trip

I am sure you will have seen on our dates’ list that Friday July 6 is also our 100% attendance reward trip to the Dinosaur and Farm Park. Families will be aware that we are limited as to when we can schedule these reward days, as tickets for this particular trip have been donated to us and can only be used on this date. If your child is in our Year 6 class and supposed to be at their secondary school that Friday, they can come on the 100% attendance reward trip with us instead.

We will be sending out invitation letters for this trip on Monday July 2.

I wish I’d known …

And finally, to help our families with this transition process, I’d like to ask you for some help please. I’d like you to cast your minds back to September and think about what information you didn’t know about the start to the new school year/class, that you wish you had known please? Then just make a note of it on the form at the end of this letter.  (See letters section of website). We can then share this with the new families starting that class/year before we break up for the summer.

If you have any questions or concerns about the transition process this year, please come and speak with us.

Thank you for your continued help and support,

Nadeem Shah

Executive Head Teacher
