Welcome Back !!! We hope you all had a great summer and are ready for an exciting Autumn Term

Year 4 Owls

Welcome to Year 4 - Owls!

Year 4 Newsletter Summer 2014

In Owl Class we are looking forward to a busy summer term.

With the lovely weather we will be making the most of our outdoor space. Bearing this in mind, it is extremely important that children have a hat and sun-cream to protect them from the sun. Please ensure these items are named.

Our new topic involves the children finding out about a village in India (Chembakolli) and we will be linking our Literacy and Science work to this topic.

In Numeracy we will continue to build on previous year’s work under the headings of: counting, partitioning and calculating; securing number facts and understanding shape; handling data and measures; calculating, measuring and understanding shape and securing number facts, relationships and calculating.

Maths homework is given out on a Thursday and is due in the following Wednesday.

In RE we will be spending time finding about about "Heroes of Faith". The children will be researching famous people such as Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa and Florence Nightingale to find out what values they had and what they did to make the world a better place to live in.

Our reading challenge is continuing. For your child to achieve a star on our display we need you to write a simple comment in their reading diary.

Please encourage them to bring their reading diary into school every day to allow us to celebrate their achievements.

A final reminder about P.E. kits. Please ensure your child has a full kit in school all week. Our P.E. days are Mondays and Wednesdays, but we may be attending sporting events or practising for Sports Day, so kit may be needed on any day of the week.

Please pop in at the end of the day for a chat if you have any questions or concerns about your child's learning.

Mrs Sadie Powell.
