Our topic this term is the English Civil War. I am hoping the children will find this particularly interesting because of the links to Newark. We will be making a number of visits to places around the town that played a crucial part in the war.

Whose side would you have been on? Oliver Cromwell's or the Kings?

P.E. sessions will continue on Tuesdays, but please ensure your child has a full kit in school all week in case we decide to do any extra activities.

Please try to listen to your child read and make a note in their reading diary at least 3 times each week. Even if your child can read well, they still need you to listen to them and discuss what they are reading. We are finding that many children are able to read quite difficult books, but are unable to answer questions and retrieve information from the text (see key questions on the cover of their diary). Unless your child is a free reader they should be bringing home a coloured book from our book band.

If you are having trouble getting your child to read at home for any reason, please pop in and let me know.

Recently Owl class achieved 99% attendance. The children were delighted!       We would love to get to 100% but need your help. We obviously don't want ill children in class, but if your child is just feeling under the weather, please send them in....you would be amazed how many of them perk up by playtime.

Do pop in for a chat at the end of the day if you have any questions or concerns about your child or their learning.
